Three (3) things to consider when choosing a Camping Tent.
If you are a 1st time camper choosing the right tent for you and your family can be challenging. Here are a few things to consider when choosing a good camping tent.
1. The Size of Your Tent
How many persons will fit comfortably in the tent? You do not want to cramp too many people inside a tent where there is hardly enough room for everyone to sleep in comfort. Tents such as Coleman tents normally sleep two, four, six, eight etc. However, a tent label for four persons can mean a tight fit and usually not enough space to store your camping gear. If you need to store your camping gear in the tent, then consider choosing a larger tent size. In addition to this, choose a camping tent with height that is tall enough so that the tallest person in the group can stand.
2. Location of Your Campsite
What is the weather condition like where you will be camping? Different weather conditions can have different effects on camping tents. Rainy areas requires completely waterproof rain fly covering as much as possible and can be use to provide shade for tent in sunny locations. For Windy sports you will need a tent with sturdy poles. Tents with large screened windows opposite each other can help with air ventilation in hot areas. Some brands such as Coleman tents have a Variflo™ adjustable ventilation system for control airflow.
3. Tent Material and Poles
Tents which has a good fabric tends to be more durable. Most tents are made from nylon. Coated nylon is used for waterproofing. Better tents use thicker fabric and tougher polyester rain flies. Poles are essential when determining a tent's stability. Fiberglass poles are usually better for durability while aluminum poles are light but strong.
